do not perform this: a song cycle

(forthcoming, Great Indian Poetry Collective)

“do not perform this: a song cycle,” winner of the 2017 Great Indian Poetry Collective Editor’s Choice Award, is an experimental collection of music compositions that are rendered as poetry by the overarching instruction that none of the pieces may be performed. Each piece explores this enforced silence, its definitions, motivations, and effects, and the soundscapes that can be found in the emotional world.

From the GIPC:

“The selection committee found Divya’s book to be playful and exploratory, delving into trauma and identity. The poems are highly musical, at times experimental, and polyvocal. The collection examines various aspects of C-PTSD and historical trauma in a way that is both compelling and triumphant.”
